Namuwongo Litracy Project
The Namuwongo Literacy Project provides literacy education to children, all of whom live in the poorest section of Uganda's Namuwongo shantytown. Most are orphaned, and would have had no chance of any formal schooling. The goal of the project is to make the children literate. We provide excellent schooling, teaching materials, and all student school books and supplies, uniforms, shoes and, equally important, food. Some children are fortunate enough to be sponsored. They then enter a regular class in the host school and are immediately replaced by another eager, needy child. We strive to maintain a class size of 20 students.
